Put away your day-planner
Salmon fishing, bottom fishing, whale watching? At Langara Island, there’s no need to schedule your days around catching this or that species, or losing an afternoon of fishing to go searching for wildlife. Productive salmon fishing and bottom fishing can be found all around our island, and all a short distance from the lodge, making it easy to target either fishery at various times. And the best whale watching at Langara Island is usually near our fishing grounds — after all, both the salmon and Humpback whales are here to feed on the same baitfish.
Dining at Langara
Our Remote Restaurant
Unlike many other remote lodges, the dining experience at Langara Fishing Lodge is akin to visiting a fine city restaurant, at which you can arrive and depart on your schedule. Every evening features a new menu, highlighted by up to 6 entrée choices and accompanied by a selection of fine wines.
Dawn to dusk dining
Early risers can enjoy a hot-cooked breakfast as early as 5am, and guests stretching out their day can still grab a table for dinner as late as 10pm. Given the Lodge’s close proximity to the fishing grounds, lunch in the restaurant is always just a few minutes away. Or stay out if the bite is on, and enjoy food delivered throughout the day via our supply boat.
The Coho Cafe
Feel free to spoil your appetite at our complimentary dessert and coffee bar. Espresso, cappuccino, and latte can be had from 5am to 10pm, and assorted pastries and baked goods around the clock.
Unforgettable sights are everywhere around Langara Island — from one of BC’s last manned lighthouses, to ancient forests carpeted in moss, expansive beaches, and unique rock formations carved by centuries of wind and waves.
The Langara Island area was once home to numerous villages and fishing outposts of the native Haida people. The site of the largest settlement, Kiusta Village, can be explored on a guided tour during most of our season. Highlights include the moss-shrouded remains of longhouses and the unique triple-mortuary totem pole of Kiusta’s Chief Edenshaw.
