We have enjoyed life-long careers in the travel industry and are fortunate to have traveled to six continents and sailed oceans and seas. We are delighted to represent Travel Best Bets as their ‘Hosts’ on The Britain and Ireland Tour this September.

Our role as ‘Hosts’ is to ensure that the many added-value components included in your tour are delivered as contracted, as well as to work with the Trafalgar Tour Director to make sure you have a great holiday.

Day 1 (September 5) -DEPART CANADA
Overnight flight to London Gatwick from Vancouver with Air Transat.

Day 2 (September 6) -ARRIVE LONDON (2 NIGHTS)
Welcome to London! After checking in to your hotel the rest of your day is free to explore this magical city.

Day 3 (September 7) -LONDON SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
See the famous sights including Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Parliament Buildings, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus (admissions not included) on your included half day sightseeing tour with a Local Guide. Spend the rest of the day as you choose. You might like to explore Hyde Park, stroll through Kensington Gardens, visit the Natural History Museum or take a cruise on the River Thames to the Tower of London. Perhaps finish with a West End theatre show!

Day 4 (September 8) -LONDON – STONEHENGE – BATH – CARDIFF
This morning, meet your Travel Director and traveling companions as you set off on your holiday. View the mysterious ancient stone circle at Stonehenge. See elegant Georgian architecture in the spa town of Bath. Cross the vast Severn Estuary to Cardiff, capital of Wales, where you dine tonight.

Day 5 (September 9) -CARDIFF – PEMBROKE – WATERFORD
Admire Cardiff Castle then journey through beautiful countryside via Carmarthen. View Pembroke Castle which is the birthplace of Henry Vll, founder of the Tudor Dynasty. Board your ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare, Ireland. Journey west to Waterford and dine tonight at your hotel.

Day 6 (September 10) -WATERFORD – BLARNEY – TRALEE
Visit the Waterford Crystal Showroom. Continue along the splendid southern coast through the picturesque fishing port of Youghal. Explore Blarney Castle – kiss the stone and acquire the ‘gift of the gab’! Cross over the Cork and the Kerry Mountains, then travel via Killarney to your hotel in Tralee.

Day 7 (September 11) -TRALEE – DINGLE PENINSULA – LIMERICK
This morning, enjoy a scenic drive along the Dingle Peninsula. See the unspoilt and colourful villages and fishing harbours of Europe’s most westerly point. Travel north to County Limerick through Adare, the prettiest village in Ireland. Arrive in Limerick where you view St. Mary’s Cathedral and King John’s Castle.

Day 8 (September 12) -LIMERICK – GALWAY – DUBLIN (2 NIGHTS)
This morning there is time to visit Bunratty Castle and folk park, where 19th century life is vividly recreated. Drive through beautiful County Clare to view Galway Bay. Stop in Galway then head across lush countryside to Dublin, Ireland’s capital.

Day 9 (September 13) -DUBLIN SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Your Local Guide takes you on a sightseeing tour of Dublin, with views of Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and historic Phoenix Park. Spend the rest of your day as you choose. For your last night in Ireland, enjoy dinner and a cabaret show!

Day 10 (September 14) -DUBLIN – CHESTER – LIVERPOOL
Cross the Irish Sea, with magnificent views of Dublin Bay, and arrive at Holyhead on the Welsh Island of Anglesey. Cameras at the ready as you view the station with one of the longest names in the world, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerych-wyrndrobwlllantysiliogogogoch. Admire breath-taking scenery in Snowdonia National Park on the way to Chester, where you have time to walk along the medieval walls and appreciate the famous ‘Chester Rows’. Arrive later in Liverpool, home of the Beatles.

Day 11 (September 15) -LIVERPOOL – LAKE DISTRICT – DUNFERMLINE (NEAR EDINBURGH) (2 NIGHTS)
Stop to view William Wordsworth’s grave in the pretty Lake District village of Grasmere. Continue across the Scottish border and stop at Gretna Green, where eloping couples could marry against their parents’ wishes. Your day ends at your hotel near Edinburgh.

Day 12 (September 16) -EDINBURGH SIGHTSEEING
This morning’s sightseeing tour with your Local Guide includes views of the Georgian New Town, Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Spend free time exploring on your own or join your Travel Director on an optional excursion to the Royal Yacht Britannia in nearby Leith. Tonight, enjoy Scottish banquet with traditional haggis and bagpipes!

Bonus: Scottish Show with Dinner – Tonight is a chance to put on that tartan and join us for an evening of singing, dancing and bagpipe playing at an Internationally famous venue. There is food, wine and a great atmosphere. Join in with the singing, we’ll show you a Highland dance or two and there’s a chance to sample Scotland’s national dish – haggis. It’s a grand night and a wonderful way to celebrate an evening in Edinburgh.
 
Day 13 (September 17) -DUNFERMLINE – YORK – LEEDS
This morning, travel south through the Scottish Borderlands and stop to view the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Enjoy the views across the Cheviot Hills at Carter Bar and continue into Northumberland National Park where you view Hadrian’s Wall at Heddon. Cross the River Tyne at Newcastle and stop at York for an orientation tour including the Gothic Minster and the narrow cobbled street known as the Shambles. Then continue to your hotel in Leeds.

Bonus: Trafalgar’s unique “Be My Guest” Dinner – Janey Bell and family at Whitwell Hall (near Castle Howard). The Bell’s will welcome the group to Whitwell Hall which is a traditional country house crica 1830. Very much a family home, the Bell’s have 5 children, dogs, a llama, donnky, chickens and cows and beautiful gardens and woods. The house sits on the top of Whitwell hill with beautiful views over the Vale of York. Weather permitting the Bell’s will provide a tour of the garden and drinks with canapes on the terrace followed by a two course buffet dinner. Dinner is taken between the drawing room and the dining room.
 
Day 14 (September 18) -LEEDS – STRATFORD-UPON-AVON – WARWICK
This morning, visit Stratford-upon-Avon where you have time to see the sights and shop for souvenirs and see Anne Hathaways’ Cottage. In your free time, why not visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Visitor’s Centre for an in-depth look at the great man’s life. Dine tonight at your hotel in the historic city of Warwick.

Day 15 (September 19) -WARWICK – OXFORD – LONDON
See Warwick Castle, dating back over 1100 years, and enjoy a scenic drive through the Cotswolds to the little churchyard at Bladon, where Sir Winston Churchill is buried. See the sights of Oxford, the oldest university city in England, before continuing to London. Enjoy in the evening a Farewell dinner with your fellow travelers.
